Pinta was found on the side of the highway in Playa del Carmen shortly after she gave birth to a litter of pups (she wasn't even a year old). She was hit by a car which probably put her into labour. She had a broken left femur and could not walk on her right hind paw as her toes were badly injured and the bone was exposed. She was a fighter and would hobble to find food so that she could be strong enough to care for her babies. We found her thin, weak, in pain and barely able to move. If we had not found her and had the help of some really fantastic vets she would not have survived. We got her on meds that would not harm the babies and made sure she was safe, well fed and had a fighting chance.
After her puppies were weaned (and adopted!) we moved her to a veterinary facility where she could be treated and rehabilitated. Originally we were told that Pinta would need surgery to fix her femur and that her toes would need to be amputated. We sought second and third opinions. With the help of Playa Pet in Playa del Carmen, Mexico we got her the treatment she needed. The result, no surgery and she is happy, healed and running around and jumping!
She then moved to a doggy daycare facility called Spa Kan, where she could run and play and be a happy dog safe from harms way. She has been vaccinated and has a clean bill if health.
She is a wonderful and sweet dog. Medium sized and spayed. She is approximately 16 to 18 kilos. She loves people and other dogs, big or small. She also doesn't mind cats. She loves to cuddle and will snuggle in your lap if you sit with her on the floor. She is great on leash and she is learning her basic commands, she is crate trained and house-broken and will be a great addition to any family
